Measuring School Quality and Student Success Under ESSA With the 5Essentials
The 5Essentials Survey is an easy to use and easy to implement tool that can help support states’ efforts to fulfill their new obligations under ESSA.
August 9, 2017The start of a new school year is exhilarating and filled with a sense of possibility. And this year that sense of possibility extends to states as they put the final touches on their ESSA plans and take advantage of the opportunity to define new policies and practices.
As you know, ESSA requires states to develop an accountability system that includes at least one indicator of school quality or student success that allows for meaningful differentiation in school performance. The indicator states select must be supported by research, valid and reliable, comparable and applicable statewide, usable within each grade span, and must allow for disaggregation by student subgroups.
The 5Essentials Survey is an easy to use and easy to implement tool that meets these requirements and can help support states’ efforts to fulfill their new obligations under ESSA.
